Article 1: Name
Section 1:
This organization shall be known as Local 912 International Union,
United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers,
U.A.W.
Article 2: Constitution and By-Laws
Section 1:
The Constitution of this organization shall be the Constitution of the
International Union, UAW and these by-laws shall be in all respects subordinate
To say Constitution and all say applications and interpretations thereof.
Article 3: Fiscal Year
Section 1:
The fiscal year of this Local Union shall begin on January 11th and end
December 31st.
Article 4: Membership
Section 1:
(a) The Local Union shall be composed of workers eligible for Membership in the
International Union, United Automobile Aerospace and Agriculture Implement
Workers of America UAW, over whom the Local Union has jurisdiction.
(b) Each member in good standing of this Local Union has the right to attend all
Membership meeting and express views, arguments, and opinions on all
Matters and business, including candidates for office, properly before the
Meeting; to meet and assemble freely with other members and generally, to
Participate in the activities of the Local Union in a responsible manner
Consistent with good conscience in order to present and discuss factually and
Honestly the issues and personalities upon which the membership must base
Its decision. These rights shall at all times be subject to the rules of the Union.
A member, in exercising the foregoing rights and privileges shall not take any
Irresponsible action, which would tend to jeopardize or destroy, or to be
Detrimental to either the Local or International Union as organizations; or
their Free democratic heritage or which would interfere with the performance
by This Local Union or the International Union as an affiliate of the International Union. Violation or abuse of these rights and privileges of
Membership, or engaging in conduct unbecoming of a union member
(c) The membership shall strive to obtain the objectives set forth in the
International Constitution and additional objectives as established as the
Policy of the International Union; to maintain free relations with
Organizations; to do all in its power to strengthen and promote the Labor
Movement; to cooperate with Regional Board Members, the International
Representatives and help promote organizational activities.
Article 5: Membership Meetings
Section 1: Regular membership meetings shall be held on the second (2nd)
Monday of each month, at 7:00 a.m. (3rd shift), 1:00 p.m. (2nd shift)
and 3:30 p.m. (1st shift).
Section 2: Special membership meeting may be called when deemed
necessary by Local Union Executive Board or the President
of the Union.
Section 3: The order of business of regular membership meetings shall be
as outlined in Article 42 of the International Constitution. All
questions of parliamentary nature shall be decided by Roberts
Rules of order.
Section 4: Members in attendance at the regular membership meeting shall
Constitute a quorum.
Section 5: Any member who attends a meeting in an intoxicated condition
and\ or creates a disturbance or becomes unruly shall lose right to vote at
said meeting. When necessary to maintain order, the member may be
evicted from the meeting by order of the Chairman, subject to the
challenge of the member. Flagrant and persistent violation of this section
by any Member shall be considered conduct unbecoming a union member.
Article 6: Powers of Administration
Section1:
(a) The membership is the highest authority of the Local Union and shall be
empowered to take or direct action not inconsistent with the Constitution or
(b) Between membership meetings, the Executive Board shall be the highest
authority of the Local Union and shall be empowered to act on the
membership to the extent urgent business requires prompt and decisive
action subject to subsequent membership approval, but the Executive
Board may not take action affecting the vital interests of the Local Union,
without prior membership approval.
(c) Between meeting of the Executive Board, the President shall exercise
general administrative authority and shall be empowered to act on the
behalf of the Executive Board.
Article 7: Local Union Officers
Section 1: This Local Union shall have the following Executive Officers:
President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Financial
Secretary\Treasurer, Three Trustees, Sergeant-at-Arms
and Guide.
Section 2: All officers shall familiarize themselves with the International Constitution
and these By-Laws, in their entirety.
Section 3: The duties of the President shall be as outlined in ARTICLE 40,
Section 1 of the International Constitution.
Article 8: Executive Board
Section 1: Regular meeting of the Board shall be held on the
second (2nd) Monday of each month at 11:00 a.m.
Section 2:
(a) The Executive Board shall direct payment of all ordinary bills and
expenses of the Local Union, and shall have the authority to make
disbursements of the Local Union Funds.
(b) A simple majority of the Executive Board shall constitute a quorum.
(c) Minutes of all Executive Board meetings will be taken by the Recording
Secretary and shall be available to the membership at meetings.
(d) In case the Chairman of the Bargaining Committee is absent from the
Executive Board meetings, the Vice-Chairman will take his place with
voice and vote, as an Executive Board Member for that meeting. It is the
duty of the Chairman to notify the Vice-Chairman when he intends to be
absent from an Executive Board Meeting.
Article 9: Committee and Stewards
Section 1: Committeemen shall be nominated and elected in the June election by
the membership. Stewards shall be nominated and elected in August by
the membership.
Section 2: All members in good standing, working under the jurisdiction
to be represented by the Stewards shall be eligible to nominate and vote
for the stewards.
Section 3: A vote on the question of recalling a steward or committeeman
to a petition, setting forth why recall is sought and signed by at least
25% of the current members working under the jurisdiction of the steward.
Section 4: Committeeman and Stewards shall be elected by a simple plurality.
Section 5: Any Committee-person who has been called to discuss a
change in a job classification shall not file a grievance that is to be
filed that would involve the changing of a job classification until
such has been discussed with entire Shop Committee.
Article 10: Bargaining Committee
Section 1: The Bargaining Committee and\or Negotiating Committee shall
consist of the President, Vice-President, and the two (2)
Committeeman.
Article 11: Committees
Section 1: The Local Union shall have in addition the Local Union
Executive Board, the following standing committees:
(a) Constitution and By-Laws Committee
(b) Union Label Committee
(c) Educational Committee
(d) Recreation-Conservation Committee
(e) Community Services Committee
(f) Community Action Program and Legislative Committee
(g) Editorial Committee
(h) Organizational Committee
(i) Veterans Committee
(j) Fair Practices and Anti-Discrimination Committee
(k) Bargaining Committee
(l) Publicity Committee
(m) Budget Committee
(n) Women's Committee
(o) Consumer Affairs Committee
Section 2:
(a) Members of these committees shall serve for a period of 3 (three)
years. They may be replaced if they do not function. The President
may replace the chairman.
(b) Committees will function only for the purpose for which they are
established. They will not assume the duties of officers of the Local
Union and in no case with they incur bills without the authority of
the Executive Board of Membership.
Section 3: The chairman of standing committees shall direct the
Functioning of the committee. It shall be the duty of the chairman
of each committee to make a report at each meeting and the
President shall call on each for such report.
Section 4: The chairman of standing committees shall have authority only
to the extent of carrying out the decisions of the committees.
Section 5: No persons will be allowed to be chairman of more than one (1)
committee at a time without approval of membership.
Section 6: Duties of the By-Laws Committee are as follows:
(a) To study the Constitution of the International Union and these by-
laws and to formulate and recommend changes or amendments to these
by-laws.
(b) To formulate proposed by-laws when directed to do so by the Local
Union.
(c) To make a study of the Constitution of the International Union; to
ascertain whether or not any changes are desirable and to formulate
recommendations to resolutions to be submitted to the International
Convention after such resolutions by the general
membership of the Local Union.
Section 7: The Recreation-Conservation Committee shall be composed of
two (2) sub-committees.
(1) Recreation and Leisure Time Activities Committee
(2) Conservation and Natural Resources Development Committee
(a) The duties of the Recreation and Leisure Time Activities Committee
shall be to provide leisure time activities and to promote recreational
and athletic programs for the Local Union members and their
families. The committee shall inform the membership of athletic
activities and encourage their participation.
(b) The duties of the Conservation and Natural Resources Development
Committee shall be:
(1) To inform the membership of steps the UAW is taking in
conservation and recreation.
(2) To work with the community to study and evaluate conservation
and recreation problems.
(3) To determine the interests and needs of the members and their
families as they relate to conservation and recreation.
(4) To propose and implement programs to solve conservation
problems.
(5) To undertake community action programs alone, or with other
groups.
(6) To establish a close working relationship with other Local
Union Committee.
(7) To cooperate with other Local Unions on these problems.
(c) Members in good standing in the UAW shall be permitted
To participate in all Recreational and athletic programs
implemented by the Local Union.
Section 8: The duties of the Community Service Committee are follows:
(a) To purchase a floral offering or Bible to be sent to the family or his
parents. Such floral offering is to bear the insignia of the Local
Union. The practice of sending flowers to members who are ill may
be discontinued by the Executive Board and may be resumed in the
same manner. The cost of flowers and Bibles shall be charged to the
Community Services funds.
Section 9: The duties of the Community Action Program and Legislative
Committee shall be as follows:
(a) To analyze labor legislation and keep membership informed thereof.
(b) To ascertain the qualification of political candidates and keep the
membership informed on the issues of local, state, and federal
elections.
(c) To investigate and approve all political petitions before they are
permitted to be circulated by the Local Union.
(d) To see that all members participate in all local, state, and federal
elections and balloting, and if necessary, to appoint a sub-committee
to achieve this end.
(e) To see that steps are taken to inform local, state, and federal officials
of the Local Union's decisions, recommendation protests or
endorsements in matters of government politics.
(f) To advise the membership of pending legislation or action, and to
organize effective protest, endorsements, or other action among the
members of the Local Union.
(g) To see that all literature, placards, pamphlets, and other political
material issues by the International Union and the Local Union are
properly and effectively distributed among members and others.
Section 10: The duties of the Editorial Committee are as follows:
(a) To have charge of editing the Local Union Newspaper.
(b) To see that all the Local Union papers and other union papers or
pamphlets are either mailed or passed out at the gates of the plants.
The method shall be determined by the Local Union.
Section 11: The duties of the Veteran's Committee are as follows:
(a) To make study of legislation pertaining to national defense, selective
training and service acts, soldiers and sailors civil relief and similar
legislation. To keep the membership informed as to those subjects
and to make recommendations to the Local Union they deem
necessary.
(b) To see that labor is properly represented on draft boards, appeal
board and as appeal agents.
Section 12: The duties of the Organizational Committee are as follows:
(a) To devise ways and means of bringing all workers within the
jurisdiction of the Local Union into membership.
(b) To use all means possible to organize the office workers and any
other group that may be possible.
(c) To report to the Executive Board and to the Local Union
membership the general organization problems of the Local, the
International Union, and to recommend action by the Local Union to
assist in solving these problems.
Section 13: The duties of the Fair Practices and Anti-Discrimination
Committee is as follows:
(a) To promote fair employment practices and to eliminate
discrimination affecting labor welfare of individual members
of the Local Union, the International Union, the labor
Movement of the Nation.
(b) To investigate and take effective action through the proper
Local Union channels on all cases of discrimination on
account of race, sex, color, creed, or national origin.
(c) To summit recommendations to the Local Union on ways and
means to eliminate unfair employment practices.
(d) To devise ways and means to dissipate racial prejudice.
Section14: The duties of the Publicity Committee are as follows:
(a) To give proper publicity to the affairs and activities of the Local
Union which are not secret, when such publicity will enhance the
UAW in the eyes of the general public and of the Local Union
Membership.
Section 15: The duties of the Grievance Committee are as follows:
(a) To present to the Executive Board or general membership
meetings for their disposition, any grievance of a member of
this Local Union or against the International Union, or any
Member thereof, provided such member should not choose to
seek redress under the provision of the International
Constitution.
Section 16: The duties of the Women's Committee are as follows:
(a) To achieve women in the labor movement.
(b) To aid and assist all other committees.
(c) To organize women's educational programs.
(d) To encourage women to take more active participation in all
Union and community activity.
Section 17: These committees shall perform all duties assigned to them
by the Constitution and by-laws and such additional duties
that may be directed to perform from time by the Executive
Board or the membership.
Article 12: Elections and Election Committee
Section 1:
(a) An election committee of three (3) will be elected to conduct
all elections, which and election committee must
constitutionally conduct, and certain other elections during
the period of the election committee tenure.
(b) The election committee will be nominated and elected at the
regular meeting preceding the meeting at which
nominations for Local Union Executive Officers take place.
(c) The President shall be empowered to appoint an election
committee of three (3) to conduct the election of the election
committee.
Section 2:
(a) Candidates will be elected by nomination, by a number at a
meeting with the nominee having the option to accept or
decline at said meeting; if nominee is not present at the
meeting set forth for nominations, he shall be under
obligation to accept within seven (7) days, in writing to a
member of the election committee or the Financial Secretary-
Treasure. Candidates will automatically be considered as
declining if he or she fails to accept within the time limits.
(b) To be eligible to be a candidate for or hold a Local Union
Executive office, the member must have been in good
standing in the Local Union for the last twelve (12) months
preceding the nominations for that office.
(c) All members in good standing shall be notified at least fifteen
(15) days, in advance of the time and place of elections and
run-off election, if necessary.
Section 3: Committeeman shall be elected for a three (3) year term
of office and elected at the same time as the Local Union
Executive officers are elected, per ARTICLE 45.
Section 4: Nominations and elective for Local Union officers shall
be made from the floor during a regular monthly meeting.
except as provided in ARTICLE 12, Section 3 of these by-laws.
Section 5: The nominations and elections for Local Union officers shall
be as outlined in ARTICLE 38, Section 2 of the International
Constitution.
Section 6: Bargaining Committee, other than the Chairman and the
Zone Committeemen, shall be elected at large from the
previously elected District Committeemen, not less than ten
(10) days, not more than fifteen (15) days after the election.
Section 7: The Local Union shall post a special bulletin of the candidates
names prior to the general election.
Section 8: All elections for Local Union officers, Committee and Delegates
shall be by secret ballot.
Section 9: Regular elections or special elections shall be held at our Local
Union office.
Section 10: Voters who have cast their ballot shall not be allowed to
loiter in the voting place. Anyone charged with violation of
the section shall be subject to the trial procedure in the
International Constitution.
Section 11: Any candidate shall have the right to petition a recount. The
petition must be filed with the election committee in writing
within seven (7) days after the election and the results have
been posted. The petition must state briefly the reason for
seeking a recount.
Section 12: The installation ceremony may be performed by the retiring
President, acting President or any regular commissioned
Representative of the International Union.
Section 13: Any ballot which clearly indicate to the intention of the
voter shall be considered valid, provided however, that
where the ballot bears an identification mark, the ballot
shall be declared void.
Section 14: Where a member has voted for more candidates than is
permitted for the office, or if, for any reason, the member's
vote for office is declared invalid, the member's vote for
that office shall not be counted; however, this shall not affect
the validity of the remainder of the ballot.
Section 15: The candidate elected for the election committee receiving
the highest number of votes shall automatically becomes
Chairman of the Election Committee.
Section 16: The duties of the Election Committee shall be as follows:
(a) To ascertain the eligibility of the candidates; to see that the election
is properly advertised and to maintain the proper polling place or
places which shall be open from 5:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.
(b) To supervise the voting, count the votes; provide an adequate check
to prevent frauds and report the results of the election as soon as
possible after the votes are tabulated.
(c) To take necessary precautions and institute the required regulations
to see that no member votes more than once and to make other
regulations as will insure a fair and impartial election.
(d) Voting to be by machine and /or ballot. The tabulation of the vote to
be immediately after the polls close if practicable.
(e) All candidates that appear on the ballot are to be place in
alphabetical order.
Section 17: The election committee shall have complete charge of the election.
It shall be responsible only for the Local Union.
Section 18: No one except committee and those who are waiting to vote
shall be allowed in the place designated as the voting place
for the election. The Local is required to permit challengers to
observed the voting and the counting in accordance with
ARTICLE 38; Section 10 (g) of the International Constitution.
Section 19: Copies of the election regulations shall be placed in a
prominent position and each election committee shall make
themselves familiar with the same.
Section 20: Any member of the election committee or any member of the
Local Union violating any of the election rules shall be
reported to the next general membership meeting.
Section 21: Any member convicted of misrepresenting returns, altering,
mutilating, destroying deposited ballots, voting frequently, or
intimidating others by threats, or otherwise interfering with a
member of the exercise of his or her rights to cast his or her
ballot in the Local Union election, or strike balloting, shall be
punished in accordance with the International Constitution.
Section 22: Results of the election shall be posted on the Union-Factory
bulletin board as soon as possible.
Section 23: No member of the Local Union shall circulate or cause to be
circulated false propaganda against any member or candidate
because of his or her race, color, sex, age, or nationality; religious
or political affiliations. Anyone found guilty by the trial
committee of violation will be subject to suspension from the
Local Union.
Section 23: The general election shall be conducted according to the
International Constitution, by-laws, and the UAW Guide for
Local Union Election Committee.
Article 13: Finances
Section 1:
(a) Initiation fee for new members shall be as set forth in ARTICLE 16,
Section 1 (a) and 1 (b) of the International Constitution, this being
$40.00 per new member for this Local Union.
(b) Monthly dues shall be as established by the International
Constitution, in ARTICLE 16; Section 2 (b).
(c) A reinstatement fee shall be charged in accordance with ARTICLE 16,
Section 8 of the International Constitution.
Section 2:
In the event any lost time is involve the Election Committee
will receive straight time pay, for the time spent at the polls and
until all ballots are counted, at regular straight time wages. In no
event will the Election Committee be paid time and one half for
serving over eight (8) hours at the poll.
Section 3:
(a) Delegates, officers, and representatives of this Local serving the
Local on union business shall not be paid for Sunday lost time.
(b) Delegates, officers, and representatives of this Local serving the
Local on union business, shall be allowed lost time, not to exceed 8
hours per day.
(c) Their transportation allowance shall be the actual cost of airfare
NOT to exceed coach fare, or the maximum (mileage allowance per
mile) set by the International Union (current rate is $.28 (twenty-
eight cents per mile). Expense for transportation is to be paid for the
actual mode of transportation used. Mileage expenses can only be
paid to the driver of the automobile. In each case the shortest route to
and from their destination will be used. Lost time reimbursement
shall be limited to one (1) day maximum to and (1) day maximum
from their destination for distances exceeding 150 miles one-way as
established by AAA mileage charts. For distances of less than 150
miles one-way, only lost time reimbursements for the day(s) of the
meeting will be paid, although lodging for the night previous to the
meeting day(s) will be paid if the delegate(s) wish to go to their
destination the night before. If "unavoidable" circumstances cause
the "extended" delay of a delegate on union business of distances
less than 150 miles one-way, a return day can be granted by
the President.
(d) Local 912 UAW will pay the single room rate for hotel or motel or at
½ of the double room rate if shared with another member or any representative of Local 912 UAW who is away from home on Union
Business or activity. A receipt must be turned into the Financial
Secretary after each trip.
(e) Any representative of Local 912 UAW who is out of town on Union
Business or activity for more than one (1) day and there is a full day
(s) lost time involved, where overnight accommodations are
necessary, shall receive forty dollars ($40.00) a day for meals, and
other incidental expenses that is necessary in the performance of
their duties. Eighteen dollars ($18.00) will be paid on day of return.
If flying is used as the mode of transportation, airport parking will be
paid with presentation of a validated receipt showing the charge.
If flying is used as the mode of transportation, and free shuttle
service is not supplied by the hotel or agency of the hotel for
transportation to the hotel from the airport and vise-versa, shuttle
charges or reasonable taxi fares will be paid upon the presentation of
a validated receipt showing the charge. Where applicable, a
minimum of 3 delegates will share a taxi and equally share its total
fare. All delegates must present a receipt in order to be reimbursed.
If driving is used, as the mode of transportation, the actual hotel
Parking fees, when shown as a separate daily charge on the hotel
room receipt, will be paid. This does not include tips, extra charges
of valet parking or in and out charges.
(f) Any representative of Local 912 UAW who is on union business
away from the union hall, and there is a full day of lost time involved
shall receive eighteen dollars ($18.00) a day for each one (1) day
period, where no overnight accommodations are required. If flying is
used as a mode of transportation, airport parking will be paid with
the presentation of a validated receipt showing the charge. If flying
is used as the mode of transportation, and free shuttle service is not
supplied by the hotel or agency of the hotel for transportation to the
hotel from the airport and vise-versa, shuttle charges or reasonable
taxi fares will be paid upon the presentation of a validated receipt
showing the charge. When applicable a minimum of 3 delegates will
share a taxi and equally share its total fare. All delegates must
present a receipt in order to be reimbursed. If less than a full day of
lost time is involved; the expense shall be ten dollars ($10.00). This
is for the necessary expense in the performances of attending
meetings, only parking, etc.
(g) When any member of Local 912 UAW is out of town on union
business, it is required upon their returned that they deposit with the
local union Financial Secretary their original hotel or motel bills,
original gasoline receipts, or remaining airline tickets.
(h) Bargaining Committee on nights attending called Management
meeting, will be allowed four (4) hours pay for attending morning
meetings, and eight (8) hours pay for meetings that last all day,
providing he actually loses time in the plant.
Section 4:
(a) The various and separate funds of the Local Union will be used
solely for which they are established, except as herein provided.
(b) On the recommendation of the Executive Board, all or any part
of these funds except the retiree's fund and new member orientation fund, may be transferred to General Fund, if such a transfer is approved by the membership at a regular or special advertised meeting.
Section 5: The Local Union shall pay vacation pay to all full-time
employees hired by the Local Union on the same basis as
members covered by the UAW-912 agreement.
Section 6: The President of the Local Union shall receive one hundred
($100.00) dollars per month for miscellaneous expenses
incurred in administering his office. The Financial Secretary-
Treasure of the Local Union shall receive ninety ($90.00)
dollars per month for miscellaneous expenses incurred in
administering his office. The Vice-President of the Local
Union shall receive fifty ($50.00) dollars per month for
miscellaneous expenses incurred in administering his office.
The Recording Secretary of the Local Union shall receive
forty -five ($45.00) dollars per month for miscellaneous
expenses incurred in administering his office. The
Committeemen shall receive fifteen ($15.00) per month for
miscellaneous expenses incurred in administering his office.
Section 7: The Local 912-UAW shall pay for cell phones used by the Bargaining
Committee for the purpose of conducting Union business for its
membership.
ARTICLE 14: Attendance Rules
Section 1:
(a) All Executive Officers and other members of the Executive
Board must attend two out of every three membership
meetings, and two out of every three Executive Board
meetings, unless properly excused, in order to continue to
hold the respective office or position.
(b) All members of the Bargaining Committee, Committeemen,
Stewards must attend two out of every three-membership meeting.

(C) In no case would two out of every three meetings be misinterpreted
To mean an elected official could attend one meeting and miss the
next; they must attend at least eight (8) meetings per fiscal year.
Section 2: The following reasons for absence will be accepted:
(a) Absence due to attending another union function.
(b) Working in the plant on over-time.
(c) Death in family, illness or on vacation.
(d) The same rules established for membership meetings,
Executive Board and Committeemen shall apply to delegates
to councils also to chairman of all standing committees,
Election Committee members. All excuses must be in
writing and presented to the Excuse Committee, for
consideration, within five (5) days.
Section 3: When a member is removed from office for failure to
comply with the established attendance rules, he shall not be
eligible to run for any elective position and loses his
eligibility to be a candidate for delegates to the UAW
Convention.
Section 4: The President will be empowered to appoint three (3)
members to act as an excuse committee.
Section 5: The Executive Board alone shall have the power to remove
an Executive Board member or Steward for reasons of
attendance.
ARTICLE 15: Delegates from the Local
Section 1: Delegates to the UAW International Convention shall be
chosen pursuant to provisions of ARTICLE 8 of the
International Constitution. Also, eligibility of a member
for Convention delegate is controlled by the International
Constitution.
Section 2: Delegates to the District Auto Council shall be nominated
and elected at the General Election as provided for in
ARTICLE 38; Section 3 of the International Constitution.
Section 3: Runner-up for the Convention or Councils shall be the first
alternate; next to be the second alternation, etc., until there
is equal number of alternates as there are delegates.
Section 4: In case of a tie delegate's elections, the winner will be
decided on by a toss of a coin, provided all parties agree.
In the event parties do not agree on the toss of a coin,
another election will be held.
ARTICLE 16: Appeals
Section 1: All appeals shall comply with ARTICLE 50 of the International
Constitution.
ARTICLE 17: Strike and Strike Committee
Section 1:
(a) All strike shall be called or terminated only in a strike conformance
with ARTICLE 55, Section 1 of the International Constitution.
(b) The President shall be empowered to appoint a strike committee
when deem necessary.
ARTICLE 18: Retired Worker Chapter
Section1: There shall be a Local Union Retired Worker Chapter as for under
ARTICLE 55, Section 1 of the International Constitution.
Section 2: The President of the Local Union shall appoint a delegate to serve
on the governing board of the Local Union Retired Worker Chapter.
Section 3: The President shall appoint a delegate to the Area Retired Worker
Council.
ARTICLE 19: General
Section 1:
(a) Bonding of officers shall be as set forth in the International
Constitution, ARTICLE 15, and directives from the International
Executive Board.
(b) To insure democracy and activate as many members as possible, no
member shall not hold more than one (1) elective office, nor is a
member of more than two (2) standing committee in this Local
Union unless approved by membership.
(c) Minutes of all meetings of the Executive Board and general
membership meetings shall be signed by the Recording Secretary
and presiding officer.
(d) Summaries of the sessions of the International Union Executive
Board shall be place on the bulletin board in the Local Union office
for one (1) month and then placed on file.
(e) All Local Union officers, committees, committeemen and alternates
handling funds or other property of the Union shall at completion of
their duties turn over all papers, documents, funds and /or other union
property to the properly constituted Local Union Officers.
(f) When, in the by-laws, a pronoun is used it refers equally whether to
the reference is applicable to both men and women in the singular or
plural.
(g) ARTICLE 5, Section 1 and 4 of these by-laws to considered Rules
and order.
(h) All Local Union officers, committeemen, alternates and shop
committeemen, upon termination of office shall return identification
badges to the Local Union office or reimburse the Local Union the
full replacement price of said badge.
ARTICLE 20: Amendments
Section 1: These by-laws shall be amended, altered or revised in conformance
with the following procedure:
(a) A motion must be made and second. The motion shall be referred to
the By-Laws Committee, and shall be reported out side
committee, at the next membership meeting together with the
recommendation of the committee.
(b) These by-laws or amendments shall be read at one (1) membership
meeting and shall be in force and effect after being voted upon and]
passed by two-thirds (2/3) majority and summit to the International
Union for approval.
(c) Any by-laws or amendments thereof adapted by the membership
shall be binding on the Local Union membership, immediately upon
submission to the International Union. The International Union
Executive Board may, however, at any time, declare all or part of the
Local Union by-laws invalid, as being conflict with the International
Constitution or applicable law; in which event, the Local shall be
notified and the by-laws that have been invalidated shall
immediately become null and void.
ARTICLE 21: Miscellaneous
Section 1:
(a) No lead man shall hold the position of Steward in the Local Union.
